BRIEF: Four finalists announced for new Game and Fish director

April 03–The New Mexico Game Commission has named four finalists for the job of director of the state Department of Game and Fish.

The finalists, announced after a three-hour closed door meeting today, were culled from a list of 13 applicants, according to a Game and Fish spokeswoman.

They are:

–Edward “Ted” Koch — a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service employee.

–Brian Wakeling — an Arizona Game and Fish Department employee.

–Alexandra J. Sandoval — a New Mexico Department of Game and Fish employee.

–Matthew Wunder — a New Mexico Department of Game and Fish employee.

The Game Commission is expected to conduct finalist interviews next month and announce its choice for the director position on May 15.

The new director will be responsible for managing a state wildlife agency with more than 300 employees and an annual budget of more than $38 million, according to an agency news release. The annual salary for director position is slated to be between $99,999 and $120,000.
