National Desk – On Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. ET in Washington, D.C., the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources will hold a hearing on “Empowering State Management of Greater Sage-grouse”. Ryan Benson, President of BigGame Forever, released the following statement in anticipation of the hearing:
“Congressman Rob Bishop and members of the Natural Resources Committee deserve to be commended for recognizing the great strides state wildlife agencies have made in the protection of the Sage-grouse and their habitat in order to keep populations sustainable across the western United States,” Ryan Benson said. “There is ample evidence that increased federal management of sage grouse populations carries the potential to negatively impact job creation, local economic development, our nation’s energy security, and our military’s ability to adequately train on and use critical areas in the West. For more than a decade, states, local governments, ranchers, industry representatives have collaborated to proactively support proven conservation efforts that are getting results,” Benson concluded.
